Wow! it´s been some time...
But I am still alive, no need to worry!
Lot´s and lot´s has happened in the last weeks and month:
* I strated work
* moved into my own cozy flat
* finished university
* I clebrated my birthday (yesterday)
* made some new friends
* visited Logos Hope
* celebrated some nice parties with my family
* traveled quite a bit between MOS and LDK and some places beyond and in-between
I did quite a number of boring, grown-up stuff (paper work mainly) and some fun, still-pretending-to-be-a-student stuff in-between. I hardly did any shopping (besides groceries), did some sightseeing and a bit of resting. I did get to know new people and found time to reconnect with old friends.
There is more stability and continuty - almost too much already. But other areas are still in process and some clearitiy would be nice here.
Oh, and my German is once again screwed up. HELP!

In-between
Just a (hopefully) short update about what is currently going on in my life.
I handed in my BA (Bachelor of Arts) thesis last week and with that finished the last big requirement for my studies has been accomplished. Officially I am still a student, but practically I am free to do what I want to do.
That’s what I did last week and got sick right away. Nothing severe but I spend my time half awake and actually think I did caught up on all my sleeping.
I am still profiting from my students card and did travel to Mosbach for almost free. There I spend my first three days in the office and trying to establish myself in the new responsibilities. It was a busy time down there with a lot of work. I started of with 250 emails in my inbox and know now that I worked through them all, though my inbox is still not empty. In the evenings I visited people and was busy again.
Now I am home for another week that I want to spend finding time for people around me. That really came a bit short lately. Plus I might go and travel a bit and start packing down my stuff.
I still don’t haven an apartment in Mosbach. The first one I was really interested in got to someone else. Now I have another one lined up. Some details still need to be confirmed, but I would like that one. I’ll let you know what will come of it.
Last but not least, last Sunday my church had a blessing and missionary service to send me out. It was truly a nice service. Andreas was there to preach and I did a short presentation on OM ships ministry and my future within OM. Later on we had about 30 people for lunch at our place and some more came later in the afternoon. I had a bit of a headache and still felt sick, but it was a lovely day.
I think these are all important happenings. As the title states I am currently in-between two places (home & Mosbach) and two statuses (student & working missionary). I do not really mind, as it brings some freedom with it. I guess I can be pretty flexible and don’t mind going with the flow. But it makes it difficult to answer all the questions people ask. I guess the certainty I long most for right now is actually having an apartment all lined up. It would make planning much easier to actually visualize the place I will live in, but I just have to wait a bit longer.

FYI
I brought my thesis to the printer today and should tomorrow hand it in - all finished and in time!
Thank you for your prayers. My last few days were horror and yesterday at this time I did not think I would make it any more. But God is good and provided me with strength (mainly to stay awake), a more or less clear mind and amazingly encouraging and helpful people!!! Thank you Julia & Mama & Neuta! Without your help I would still be writing now ... Such a relief to now you and other were there with me.
I am heading to bed now ... am so much looking forward to sleep for more then 4 hours in a row ...
A lot will happen soon as I have a long list of things I want to do "once the thesis is handed in". But for now sleep sounds like the best thing on earth.

My topic
For all those of you who have been asking recently. The topic of my thesis is: Die Heimatproblematik Russlanddeutscher Mennoniten am Beispiel eines Liederbuches!
Sorry, I have no clue how to really translate it into English, but it has something to do with the following: Russian Mennonites that migrated to Germany, songbooks & home (gosh, how to translate “Heimat”?). I am trying to draw up a parallel between their unsettled lifestyle and wish of returning to Germany with all feelings of being strangers and not belonging and their believes of finding a final home in heaven and being on the way towards it, worded out in some of their popular songs.
Ok, back to work! 11 days till hand in…

Excitement building up
1st
Next week I will take my first dip into my new responsibilities with OM Ships International. I will take a break from writing and attend the biannual conference for new recruits (GO Conference). I will have the opportunity to learn along side my precursor (hey, I just found that word and loved it! Hope I am using it in the right context). This is quite important as she will start her new job by February while I will not be full time in Mosbach till April. I am glad I will be staying directly in the mill. I still remember my conference 6 years ago. Ah, the excitement! I am really looking forward to meet some of the new recruits and old friends (I am sure there will be quite a number of them around) and to learn about my new job. I assume it will be a busy week but I like to have many people around and to arrange things (not sure how much I will be doing that, but I will learn how to in the future) and meet new people.
One disadvantage: I will miss two birthday parties that week.
2nd
I will as well get to see an apartment next week. Really exciting! It sounds exactly like what I was looking for in size, location and furnishing. It even has two (!!!) balconies and the prize is really good. I will see what will come of it.
3rd
After that week I have to return to another two weeks of writing (finishing of) my thesis and I shall be done with my studies!!!! Oh, I am SOOOOO much looking forward to it. I am getting there. Some days I feel like I am far behind (especially when I suddenly find a new aspect and I am wondering if I should have included it as well), but all in all I think I am within the time frame. So I am excited about that as well.
4th
I was released from my civil duty to help with the elections Sunday in a week (die berühmt - berüchtige Wahl in Hessen). I had another commitment in the evening (operating the sound system for the International Worship Service) and I called to see if I could work early hours and then be off to church. Instead they offered me to get someone else in my position. Hey, sure the more time I have the better.
5th
I received a Christmas gift from Ecuador: A beautiful scarf and a Christmas card. Thank you so much, Esther! I love scarves and was a bit disappointed I did not get one for Christmas this year and then I got one all the way from Ecuador. I will post a picture soon. I really like it´s thin fabric and bright colours.

Mapuche - can´t get them out of my head
Yesterday I had to read my first paper of this week and I think it went well. Mapuche are the biggest indigenous minority in Chile and have been quite famous as they resisted the Incas as well as the Spanish conquistadores for about 200 years. Today they live in reservations and are still fighting for their land, though big numbers have moved to the cities (mainly Santiago de Chile).

took a nap yesterday afternoon I was dreaming about what to say and where to find some more information.
It was so hot yesterday that I was not able to study and decided to take the afternoon off. It was nice helping my parents a bit in the backyard in the evening and to watch a movie (“Kick it like Beckham”). Both I haven’t done for quite some time!

On Sunday we had a combined church service with our sister church (we are basically 3 churches, that have the same pastors, two little daughter churches and the bigger mother church in town). The place they are located is called Laubach and lies approximately 50 km away from my home town. I have never managed to be there and so it was really interesting to me. Funny how some things seem to be just the same and others have been totally different from our church. It was a nice service with a message on finding meaning in our life, not by chasing bubbles, but having a relationship with God. The preacher even had a bit on John Piper and the book “Desiring God”. You know his thesis that God will be most glorified, when we are most satisfied in him.
After the service we had a nice barbeque and enjoyed some fellowship. It was nice to see the effort that was put into getting to know each other. It was only sad not that many from my church attended the service.
